The Vineyards
Wine is made in the vineyard. and right now McLaren Vale has the best vineyards in Australia. It also is home to a developing organic farming movement. We do our best to push the frontiers of sustainable farming and promote this on a wide scale.
During the day James works as a viticulturalist through his company - DJ's Growers. If fruit catches his eye he grabs it and makes it into wine.
We favour vineyards that are on low hills consisting of ironstone and chalky rock with a thin covering of clay loam as this provides good drainage.
Vineyards on the hill tops are world famous for Shiraz, which produce a very concentrated flavour and colour. The low hills catch the afternoon summer sunshine, ripening the fruit without fail. The thin soil has the ideal balance for the normally vigorous Shiraz, taming it and pushing every last drop of energy into the fruit.

Our gardens are open and you can join us for wine tastings and a smattering of local produce, pizzas and my Mum's cooking.
We hope you can visit us Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 11am to 5pm.
We are located at Lot 11 Brookman Rd, Kuitpo via Willunga which is located a 10 min drive from McLaren Vale, the town of Willunga or Meadows if you are coming through the Adelaide Hills. Please see the map below for more details.
If you find yourself in McLaren Vale outside of our opening times you can make an appointment.
Lazy Ballerina is also available for private parties and weddings. It is the perfect venue for those looking for great wine, a great garden and that unique something special.
